In this presentation to the Massachusetts Grid Modernization Advisory Council, Lisa Schwartz presented on distribution system planning elements and requirements in other states. Topics include grid modernization, distributed energy resources, data-related requirements, and stakeholder engagement and equity. Under the state's 2022 Climate Law, the Advisory Council is charged with reviewing and providing recommendations on electric-sector modernization plans filed by investor-owned electric distribution companies. The plans will include a summary of distribution system investments and alternatives, distribution system improvements to increase system reliability and resiliency for weather and disaster-related risks and to facilitate transportation and building electrification, forecasts for 5- and 10-year planning horizons, and an assessment of demand through 2050. |
