Abstract |
It is commonplace in both the building research and design communities to separate the two endeavors and accentuate the differences between them. We often hear that the researchers tools and approaches are not useful for design purposes; they are too slow, and too complex, and while they generate quantities of data, they provide little useful information. While this will often be true, there are significant cases where it is not so. By exploring these in more detail we can learn more about the complementary naturesof research and design. |
