Air conditioning can improve health, productivity and quality of life for people living in warm climates. Air-conditioning equipment, however, consumes resources during manufacturing, operation and disposal. As our economies grow and populations expand, the global demand for air conditioning will increase. Putting in place policies that curb the energy and environmental impacts from air conditioning will transform the market and improve lives. When seeking to transform their respective markets towards higher energy efficiency, this guide encourages countries to follow a five-step U4E Integrated policy approach.
