The Getting Beyond Widgets: Enabling Utility Incentive Programs for Commercial Building Systems (henceforth referred to as ‘Beyond Widgets’) project is a multi-year United States Department of Energy (DOE) funded effort undertaken by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) to facilitate uptake in energy-efficient system retrofits in U.S. commercial buildings. The ‘Beyond Widgets’ approach is to expand utility incentive program reach beyond the component/widget level to include systems-based offerings. Earlier Beyond Widgets efforts are summarized in a paper (Beyond Widgets – Systems Incentive Programs for Utilities, 2016)1 and an internal LBNL report (Mutmansky, 2021). This report presents the Phase 3 deliverable of this work, building upon earlier phases to develop a plan to successfully deploy the Beyond Widgets’ system packages at scale.
