Latest\ Database\ Release:\ USWTDB_V9_0_20260626

The latest release includes\ data\ on\ 77,379\ turbines covering\ 45\ states\ plus Guam and Puerto Rico. The most recent turbines added to the\ USWTDB\ became operational as recently as the\ fourth\ quarter of\ 2025, with a few from the\ first\ quarter of\ 2026. The oldest turbines in the\ data\ set were installed prior to 1990.\ USWTDB\ releases generally lag installations by one quarter to allow for merging of the various datasets, visual verification, and quality control.

*Note: We are now producing a public dataset of\ decommissioned\ turbines that have been removed from the USWTDB. This dataset currently includes over\ 12,800\ turbines that have been confirmed as decommissioned, along with their location and attributes. The decommissioned turbine dataset can be found under "Related\ Files" below. Variable definitions can be found in the USWTDB Codebook.\

Click\ here\ to go to the U.S. Wind Turbine Database\ website\ and\ online viewer, where also the USWTDB\ data can be downloaded.

This site holds the codebooks, memos and other information about the most recent USWTDB data release.\  Please email uswtdb@lbl.gov for information about previous versions
