The Michigan Legislature passed Public Act 341 in December 2016, a law that requires rate-regulated electric utilities to submit integrated resource plans (IRPs) to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) for review and approval. At the MPSC’s request, and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, Berkeley Lab provided technical assistance on several topics in a series of stakeholder meetings.
The May 1, 2017, stakeholder meeting slides cover: (1) an overview of integrated resource planning, (2) treatment of energy waste reduction; (3) treatment of demand response; and (4) accounting for uncertainty.
The August 8, 2017, stakeholder meeting slides cover: (1) a review of the May 1 IRP presentation; (2) time-varying value of energy efficiency; (3) modeling uncertainty and risk; and (4) stakeholder engagement in IRP.
